Procurement seems a simple enough procedure.  However, unscrupulous vendors can take advantage of consumers in a variety of ways during this stage of implementing a computing system.  There are undoubtably more ways than we can imagine but here are some that we are aware of:

• repackaging (even shrink-wrapping!) defective returns of previous clients and reselling them to you
• sale of knock-off products (manufactured under a name brand by another company)
• deliberately mislabeling or misrepresenting products, for example selling a 1.7 GHz PC as a 2.0 GHz PC
